Straw Marquetry, a rare ‘savoir faire’
Delphine Robins discovered straw marquetry unexpectedly and it changed her life.
I have always been deeply drawn to Art Deco, in particular by the Streamline period, which is exceptional in terms of purity and inventiveness through its architectural and furniture ‘universe’, and which is visible in painting by Fauvism and Dadaism.
I have always wanted to work manually, combining my attraction for art deco together with work I am passionate about.
After a few years working in media, industry and real estate in Paris, Cannes and Sète, I unexpectedly saw a documentary that changed my life one day: straw marquetry. It was a revelation!

Self-taught, it is with patience, precision, dexterity, love and perseverance that I have come to master the art of straw marquetry.
Straw is a natural raw material and creates pure patterns for interior decorators and individuals. The resulting designs are amazing in their variety, beauty and inventiveness.

There are only a handful of straw marquetry artisans in the world today and I am proud to be one of them.
